The Effect of Moral Competence on Online Conformity Behavior

Moral Competence, defined as the ability to solve conflicts on basis of shared moral principles through cooperation rather than violence, deceit and power, has received little attention among different psychological approaches; despite its importance in predicting many our social interactions. The purpose this study was investigate effect competence online conformity behavior. 217 students from universities Teheran were selected for a quasi-experimental study. First, participants’ measured with Competence Test (MCT) by G. Lind (1978/2019). Then subjects participated an version Asch type experiment which induced. results showed clear behavior use internet. An average 32.09% participants conformed each critical question. When compared Asch`s line judgment task, mean lower, but still significant enough indicate (36.8% 7.4%), might stem situation, some other variables like deindividuation influence difference. also indicated that there weak negative correlation between confirm hypothesis weakly; higher tended show lower conformity. If could be replicated, it would imply is not general stable trait people, assumed, depends people’s level competence, can fostered education.
